The site is the piece of Fung Shui Woodland, about 5.3 hectares, behind the Mai Po Village (G.R. JV975905).
香港擁有兩個鷺鳥林，一個是位於沙頭角的海盬灶下鷺鳥林，另一個就是米埔風水林。 數百隻鷺鳥在林中築巢繁殖，包括小白鷺，牛背鷺和池鷺。
Apart from the Yim Tso Ha Egrety, Startling Inlet, the Mai Po Fung Shui Woodland is the only other egrety in Hong Kong. Several hundred egrets nest and breed in the woodland and they are Little Egret, Cattle Egret and Chinese Pond Heron.
