薄扶林水塘集水區 / Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Catchment Area

薄扶林水塘集水區,面積217.3公頃。

The site is the direct catchment area of the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir. The area is about 217.3 hectares.

林地之內植物種類豐富,其中包括稀有而又受保護的香港茶。 於1849年香港茶在維多利亞山頂的山谷中首次被發現。 隨後在香港和廣東省的多個地方亦有被發現。 香港茶收錄於《香港稀有及珍貴植物》一書中。 薄扶林水塘集水區內還有其他稀有植物。

The woodland is rich floristically and includes Camellia hongkongensis (香港茶) which is rare and protected species. The species was first discovered in 1849 in a ravine in Victoria Peak. It was subsequently found in several localities in Hong Kong as well as in Guangdong Province. The species is also recorded in the book "Rare and Precious Plants of Hong Kong". There are also a number of other rare plant species within the site.
The woodland also provides a favourable habitat for animal and bird life.

林地還為動物和鳥類的生活提供了有利的棲息地。

The visitors to the ravines of the Pok Fu Lam Valley bring with them high risk of distrubance, litter and fire. Camellia hongkongensis is an attractive plant and vulnerable to unauthorized collection.
